Apollo 8 Heatshield Presentation

Apollo 8 was the first mission to take humans to the Moon. Launched December 21, 1968, on the first manned Saturn V, Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders filmed the first live TV coverage of the lunar surface. This Spaceflori presentation displays a segment of flown heatshield from Apollo 8.

The source of the heatshield used to create this presentation was a larger block formerly encased in lucite and given to NASA workers and VIPs as a recognition of their work in the Apollo program.
